             HORSE FARM SURVEY

ATTN:  COMMERCIAL FARMS AND BACKYARD HORSE OWNERS

Orange County Soil & Water Conservation District, Ulster County Soil & Water Conservation District, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Orange & Ulster Counties, and the Orange County  Horse Council of New York Inc. are cooperating on a project to better assess the Orange/Ulster County horse industry, particularly with regard to conservation needs. This project also has the support of the New York State Horse Council.

Your completion of this brief survey will assist us in developing and delivering appropriate and useful programming. As opportunities develop to assist horse owners with conservation issues, including through grants, this survey will help develop appropriate projects. The survey will also help to characterize the current horse industry in Orange County and Ulster County and its contribution to the economics and open space preservation efforts.

Fax or mail your completed survey to your County Soil & Water District (SWCD) office at the address below. **Nutrena has provided assistance with this mailing and has graciously offered to give each person (one per household) who fills out the survey a free bag of horse feed through one of their local distributors: Heritage Feed & Supply, Bullville; Accord Feeds & Needs, Accord; Pet Fare, Shokan; Barnyard Feed & Pet Supply, Kingston; and New Paltz Agway, New Paltz. A coupon will be sent to you for the bag of feed. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding the survey, feel free to contact the Soil & Water District office in your county.
