Each year the Soil and Water Conservation District runs a sale on bareroot seedlings. Most of the varieties are deciduous trees and shrubs with a few evergreens. Some species offered in the sale include:

Our sale also includes ground covers such as: Pachysandra       and Wildflower Seed Mixes  ( Bee Feed-Pollinator Mix,  Bird & Butterfly Mix, Old Glory, Original, Sunny and Shady Mix)

Fertilizer tablets, organic compost, wild flower seeds for sunny or shady locations, and wildlife nesting boxes for bluebirds (traditional and Peterson), wrens, hawks, butterflies, bats and wood ducks are also available. The nesting boxes can be purchases year-round.

The seedlings are sold in bundles of 10, 25, 50 and 100. Prices can range from $10 for a bundle of 10 up to $85 for a bundle of 100. They range in sizes from 6 inches to 2 feet.

The sale is held each spring in April. Conveniently, we have two locations for picking up orders. One location is the Fairgrounds at  249 Libertyville Rd., New Paltz and the other location is at the Ulster County DPW Highway Garage on 317 Shamrock Lane (off Hurley Avenue), Kingston NY.

Since we are primarily funded by the Ulster County Government, by holding this program we can help to reduce our dependence on local tax dollars.

We send out order forms in our newsletter. There are also press releases sent out to all local newspapers announcing the sale at the end of January and early February. If you would like to add your name to our mailing list, please feel free to call our office on any weekday between 8AM and 4:30PM at (845)883-7162 extension 3, or stop by our office in the USDA Service Center, 5 Park Lane, Highland, New York. A form can be mailed or faxed to you directly, or will be posted here on the website. We are located about one mile east of the Village of New Paltz.
