Blue Bird Box - $17.00

Place nest boxes in the sunniest, most open area possible, away from your house or deep shade. Bluebirds prefer large expanses of short grass with a clear flight path, ideally facing a field. Try not to place the house too close to feeders. Make sure it is mounted 5 to 10 feet off the ground. Bluebirds do not tolerate swaying birdhouses, so anchor the nest box firmly to a smooth round pipe.

Deluxe Blue Bird Box - $21.00

The Peterson style bluebird nest box has a very slanted, wedge shaped design with benefits such as rain and sun protection as well as some predator protection. With the slant shape that causes the box to slope downward when mounted correctly, rain doesn’t enter the nest box as easily, keeping nests dryer during heavy storms. In terms of bird preference, wooden Peterson boxes tend to be well accepted by bluebirds and tree swallows.

Wren Box - $14.00

The walls of the interior are rough. Long strips of bark are placed inside the box. Supposedly the rough interior walls and bark provide perches for hibernating butterflies.

Wren boxes should be placed about 4 to 10 feet above ground, mounted on a pole or the side of a house, barn, or tree. Sometimes wrens don’t mind a swinging house, one that hangs from a tree or post, but most often, they seem to prefer those that are mounted.
